About goodhopekiwawa.org

Background

Good Hope Kiwawa Orphanage was founded by my father, Elisante Augustino Pallangyo, who saw the need to help children after encountering a young girl who came to our home seeking work as a housemaid. My father discovered that the girl was an orphan and was not being paid despite her hard work. He decided to take her in as his own child and helped her gain vocational training. This young girl's story deeply moved my father, prompting him to involve others in establishing the orphanage. Although many supporters dropped out, thinking it would be profitable, my father continued to support these children without a stable source of income, relying on short-term assistance from churches and well-wishers.

After my father passed away in 2017, I took over the responsibilities of running the orphanage. It was a challenging time, balancing my education with the needs of the children at the orphanage. Despite the difficulties, I persevered, traveling to various places seeking assistance, often missing school due to a lack of transport funds.

Good Hope Kiwawa Orphanage has long been a beacon of hope for orphaned and vulnerable children, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment. Recognizing the need for sustainable and holistic support, we are now expanding our mission by establishing the Good Hope Kiwawa Learning Center. This initiative aims to create a seamless connection between the orphanage and the learning center, ensuring that children receive not only care and support but also quality education and vocational training. This comprehensive approach will empower them with the skills and knowledge needed to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
